Bono caught in Latin feud
London
Lead singer Bono of U2 has been criticised by Bolivian citizens for accepting a 'charango' (small guitar) from Chilean leader Richard Lagos because the instrument is of Bolivian origin.
Bono, who was presented the gift while on tour in Latin America, has been flooded with letters insisting that the guitar is an inappropriate souvenir to accept from Chile, contactmusic.com reported.
Bono has offended Bolivians since the guitar is traditionally played by indigenous folk musicians, including newly-elected Bolivian President Evo Morales.
