Chile on Eve of New Leaders
Santiago, Chile
Chile enters a countdown for a change of government on Sunday, as the country is getting ready to face an invasion of 30 Heads of State, 53 ministerial delegations and 35 ambassadors who will participate in the taking office ceremony.
World eyes are on three people in the audience: Presidents Evo Morales (Bolivia), Hugo Chavez (Venezuela) and the US representative, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Morales and Chavez will be welcomed by the Chilean people, while Rice may find limited acceptance by the government but rejection on the streets.
Another visitor, Haitian president-elect Rene Preval, has a significant importance, as this is his first mission abroad since he won the elections in Haiti.
