Mexican elections begin with violence

Local elections in three Mexican states started with violent incidents on Sunday, official sources said.

In Oaxaca, in south of the country, the elections of 42 deputies to the 60th state legislature were tarnished when a journalist suffered three bullet wounds by unidentified gunmen, Oaxacan government Citizen Protection secretary Sergio Rios said.

Meanwhile, northern Baja California's governor elections began on Sunday morning amidst a climate of tension, in an electoral process marked with accusations and anomalies by the political parties involved.

In Aguascalentes's elections of 11 mayor ships and 27 deputy posts on Sunday, some of the ballot booths supposed to be open at 08:00 local time were opened late.

In some of Oaxaca's municipalities, the communities have blocked the opening of ballot booths.

Meanwhile, Baja California's elections were shadowed by false electoral ballots and the threat of magisterial leader Elba Estherto "bust" the elections with protesters.

In Aguascalientes, the elections have been tarnished since Saturday when electoral officials disqualified two advisors that campaigned in favor of the National Action Party-New Alliance coalition.
