Bolivia Rejects US Armament Return

La Paz
The countdown for returning armament and equipment delivered by the United States to Bolivia is advancing Tuesday, but the government, indignant at the blackmail, refuses to give back the goods.

US military mission chief in this country Colonel Daniel Barreto motivated President Evo MoralesĀ“ repudiation, after informing Armed Forces chief Wilfredo Vargas of the withdrawal of support for the Joint Counter-terrorist Force Chacha Puma, after reshuffling the chief and assistant chief of the same group.

The communication, condemned Monday by Morales as a blackmail and unacceptable intimidation for a poor but honorable country as Bolivia, states the mission's staff will next Friday withdraw those weapons and equipment.

The head of State informed in Cochabamba, site of the equipment, made up of troops and police, of the decision to not deliver any armament to the United States.
