Urgent: Attack against Ricardo, a compañero and adherent to the Other Campaign, after the meeting in Oventic
Mexico City, January 14, 2007

To all adherents to the Other Campaign and the "Sexta"
To all human rights organizations
We are writing to inform you that last January 6, 2007, at approximately 10:00 p.m., compañero Ricardo Ruiz Flores of the Brigada Sembrando Dignidad of Mexico City, an active adherent to the Other Campaign, was brutally clubbed by four unidentified men in Santo Domingo Plaza, San Cristóbal de las Casas, when he was heading for the Enlace Civil Zapatista office to continue with coordinating tasks after the Meeting between the Zapatista peoples and the Peoples of the World held at Oventic.
On Thursday, January 11, he was moved to a Mexico City hospital. Ricardo is seriously injured with severe blows to the head and body, with his right arm and leg being the most heavily affected. The compañero has undergone four operations and there is an urgent need for blood donors of any type as well as economic support. Further information can be obtained at the kiosk in the center of Coyoacan, Plaza Hidalgo, on Saturdays and Sundays.
We ask that all individuals, collectives, organizations and members of the Other Campaign lend their solidarity, denunciations, support, and assistance in spreading the word about this vicious attack.
Compañero Ricardo has been an active participant in the Zapatista movement since 1994 and on any number of occasions he and the Brigada have gone to Chiapas to support different productive projects in the Zapatista communities and have also organized caravans from Mexico City into Zapatista territory to support and spread information about the Zapatista movement. In Mexico City, Ricardo has been active in Redes Enlazando Dignidad, Movimiento y Corazón Zapatista, and the Laboratorio de Acción Directa, creating broader awareness and support for the Other Campaign and the tour of Delegate Zero in 2006.
The Brigada Sembrando Dignidad invites you to a bazaar/auction/festival that will be held SUNDAY, JANUARY 21, AT 2 PM in the kiosk in the center of Coyoacan, plaza Hidalgo, with the aim of raising funds for Ricardo’s hospital expenses and the continuation of support for the Other Campaign.
The Batuqada Subversión Sonora condemns this attack and joins in efforts to support Ricardo. We repeat the invitation for everyone to take a stand against this terrible deed.
An attack against one is an attack against all!!
