US Stonewalls Cuban AIDS Achievements

Cuba denounced on Friday that the US is trying to silence the Island´s evident breakthroughs in the fight against HIV/AIDS and its collaboration with other Third World countries to fight this scourge.
At the UN HIV/AIDS Conference, Ambassador Ileana Nunez said that the US even prevented Cuban Health Minister Jose Ramon Balaguer from attending the meeting.
He is not here with us because he did not receive the necessary US Government visa, Nunez denounced.
Again, the host country´s authorities have failed to fulfill their obligation to facilitate the participation of a minister from a UN country member, she added.
The ambassador said that Cuba rejects the imposition of any discriminatory measure and demands full respect for sovereign rights won by its people in a hard fought struggle against plans of imperialist dominance.
