Lima

Union for Peru candidate Ollanta Humala assured he will win the June 4 runoff over his rival Alan Garcia, of the Peruvian Aprista Party.
"We want a State that solves health, education and sewage problems of over 14 million poor Peruvians," Humala said Wednesday evening to a crowded rally to close his campaign in San Juan de Lurigancho district, Lima.
He reiterated his electoral promises, which scored him 30 percent support in the April 9 elections, noting he will denounce the free trade agreement if it is approved after being sealed with the US and still to be ratified by both Congresses.
In addition, the retired lieutenant colonel denounced the big campaign against him and mentioned that the freshest one occurred when the state TV station cut his speech to replace it with a message from President Alejandro Toledo.
