Cuba Advances Creating New Jobs

Havana
While many other Latin American countries suffer increasing unemployment, Cuba continues moving toward eradication of unemployment, Labor and Social Security Deputy Minister Jose Barreiro stated Thursday.

It is very important for us to eradicate unemployment, the official said, while summarizing discussion of the congressional committee on youth, childhood and women’s rights.

Cuba’s strategy is based on generation of new jobs, especially those related to education, health and social work, Barreiro explained.

Similarly, he referred to the study-job program, through which the Cuban government has positively turned around the lives of thousands of youth dissociated from any productive or instructive activity.

Imadai Iglesias, member of the Communist Youth National Bureau (UJC), mentioned the significant advances made in the reinsertion of the “missing links” into society.

For them, the Revolution has created courses of general training where they receive a salary in exchange for studying.
