Evo Ratifies Hydrocarbon Sovereignty

Bolivian President Evo Morales welcomed new foreign investments in energy, but ratified his country is absolute owner of its hydrocarbons.

"It is important to have partners for new fields of exploration and industrialization, but the Bolivian people are the only owner of national energy resources," the president warned.

Morales inaugurated today the third enlargement of the gas pipeline, which will increase natural gas supply in the country's west by 5 million cubic feet dailies.

With this new section, conveyance capacity amounts to over 80 million cubic feet dailies, thus reducing the growing demand on the internal market, and alleviating energy shortage.

Regarding this, Morales called to fight smuggling of natural gas, and affirmed Bolivia needs truly revolutionary people rather than mere public officials.
