Strong Tension in Oaxaca, Mexico

Violence returned Sunday to the city of the Mexican state of Oaxaca after an attack of soldiers wearing civilian clothes, who shot against the barricades raised by teachers and members of social movements.

According to a forensic report, the armed attacks against nearly 30 people left one dead.

The spokesman of Oaxaca Peoples Popular Assembly, Florentino Lopez, claimed the federal government and the Secretariat of Defense direct responsibles for the attack and demanded a prompt clarification of the incident.

Few hours after the attack, city residents found a wallet with documents from the Army Bank, among others, which belonged to a soldier of the 8th Military Region of that area, and who was identified as one of the attackers.
