Mexico Opposition Pledges Fair Society

Mexico
Sep 17
Mexico´s former presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador affirmed he will establish a fair society based on democracy and the defense of the people´s sovereignty.

After being declared the legitimate president of the country in a National Democratic Convention yesterday, the politician told hundreds of thousands of followers he will work for the construction and establishment of a new Republic.

We will defend hope and will not accept fraud nor admit that scourges such as child labor or malnutrition prevail in the country. Nor will allow the lack of budget for education, unemployment or miserable wages, Obrador sustained.

He went on saying he will not allow any of the different forms of discrimination, nor emigration seeking jobs on the other side of the border, or privatization of the electricity or oil industries.

In the meantime, his followers affirmed they will not recognize Felipe Calderon as Mexico´s president elect nor his officials or the acts of his government.
