Venezuelans Switch Judas with Bush

Perhaps influenced by Judas´ innocence, Caracas people decided to substitute this biblical character with a figurine of US President George W. Bush in the traditional burning that closes the Holy Week.

In the ceremony, the people execute the traitor who sold out Jesus for 30 coins, but in this version Bush is burnt for his wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and his threats to Venezuela.

With the burning of Judas, Venezuelans ended the Holy Week that coincides with the April 2002 coup on President Hugo Chavez.

That popular president returned to office 47 hours later, thanks to the popular-military revolution that ousted the government of self-appointed president Pedro Carmona, backed by US allies in the Caribbean.

Menaces from Bush´s administration have lately increased as the December elections are closing and all electoral polls show Chavez as the winner.
