Clear violation of Venezuela’s democratic process by a foreign government
by Bob Chapman
The White House has rejected hurricane disaster-recovery loans at a higher rate than any other administration in the last 15 years. Business and home loan approval rates averaged about 60% after Hurricane Andrew.
After Wilma roared through South Florida last year the approval rate for low interest, taxpayer-guaranteed loans by the SBA had dropped to barely 15%.
Overall, Democrats said approval rates for home and business disaster loans since 2004 have averaged about 35%. The SBA has tripled its staff over the past year to deal with the series of major Gulf Coast hurricanes. Despite the increase from 1,500 to 4,500 the report found the agency’s approval rate has continued to drop with each disaster.
The SBA on top of this said last week that it was almost out of disaster money, but they had plenty of money for that rat hole known as Iraq. Fortunately, congress gave the SBA $100 million in February and the Senate approved legislation to provide $712 million with no thanks to the White House.
House resolution 328 condemns the Venezuelan democratic process. It was put before the House Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere on Thursday. It recommends funding Venezuela’s so-called opposition, who are the politically defeated forces representing the upper middle class and the wealthy -- the country’s elitists.
This resolution is in clear violation of Venezuela’s democratic process by a foreign government and its right to self-determination.
This is what the elitists want passed by our government.
