WWF Rejects Water Privatization

Mexico
Third World countries, led by Bolivia and social organizations, have ratified their rejection of the privatization of water at the 4th World Water Forum, underway in Mexico City.

Spokespeople from these sectors voiced their opposition to the intention of developed nations and international organizations to exclude the human right to water from the meeting´s final declaration.

Bolivia´s Water Minister Abel Mamani told that whether these forces achieve their positions or not, his government won´t sign the document.

"The declaration´s draft says nothing about the human right to water, so we think there was no real debate," stated the Bolivian official.

In a meeting with non-governmental organizations from France, in which Danielle Mitterrand did not attend, Mamani trusted that other countries from Latin American and from other continents join this position.
