"Media campaign" reported in Mexico

The ambassadors of Venezuela, Ecuador, and Bolivia to Mexico, Roy Chaderton, Galo Galarza, and Jorge Mancilla, respectively, reported an alleged "media campaign" against their governments to spur attacks against their countries.

Their statement came in a forum called The New Latin American Situation, held in Mexico.

According to Chaderton, in Venezuela a fierce media campaign against President Hugo Chávez's government has escalated. He added new "set-ups" would come to get the Venezuelan government involved with guerrilla groups, according to Mexican daily newspaper Vanguardia.

The Venezuelan diplomat said the Latin American newspapers are involved in "dark maneuvers" to manipulate the information about the Venezuelan government's moves. For example, he claimed that the news media did not highlight the fact that the only corporation that filed a lawsuit against Chávez's government, namely US oil major Exxon Mobil, lost the case and now has to pay damages.
