Lula and Fidel meet

President Fidel Castro Ruz and Luiz Inácio Lula da SilvaIN the afternoon of Tuesday, January 15, Cuban President Fidel Castro Ruz and Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, president of the Federative Republic of Brazil, had a warm and fraternal meeting.

Lula and Fidel especially recalled their first meetings, and the idea that emerged during one of those of creating the Sao Paulo Forum as a space for interaction among Latin American leftist political parties. Today, a number of those parties are now in government in their countries.

The Brazilian president transmitted to Fidel the deep affection of his people for Cuba and the Cuban people, which was reciprocated by the leader of the Cuban Revolution.
