Mexico Forum Defeats Capitalism
An international forum, organized by the Zapatista National Liberation Army (EZLN) in the Mexican state of Chiapas, advocated Friday for anti-systemic alliances to defeat capitalism.
The meeting was attended by over 300 delegates from several countries, among them academics Pablo Gonzalez Casanova and art critic John Berger, US historian Immanuel Wallerstein, writer Hector Aguilar, and "Contrahistorias" magazine director Carlos Aguirre.
EZLN chief deputy commander Marcos said that real transformations of a society in a historic moment are those aimed against the system as a whole, thus the importance of anti-systemic movements.
Wallerstein stated the need of an offensive anti-systemic alliance and efficient campaign worldwide.
The EZLN, he noted, must participate in the next edition of the World Social Forum to be run in January 2009, which must analyze indigenous problems in the world.
