BAGHDAD, August 15

The United States lost 12 soldiers in the last 48 hours in Iraq, bringing the total of its troop fatalities in this country to 3,7000 since the war began in 2003. Two Army communiqués released today confirmed six of those deaths. In Al Anbar province, one soldier died in a ground attack and another five lost their lives when the helicopter transporting them crashed.
