Fidel Castro Meets With Evo Morales in Havana
Cuban President Fidel Castro met on Thursday afternoon with his Bolivian counterpart Evo Morales, who conducted a short but productive working visit to the island.
For almost three hours, the leaders exchanged opinions on initiatives of joint cooperation such as the eye-surgery program Operation Miracle, through which almost 90 thousand Bolivian patients have been operated on.
The leaders talked about the advances on regional integration achieved through the ALBA-TCP initiatives and also exchanged ideas about other topics of mutual interest.
Prior to his meeting with the leader of the Cuban Revolution, the visiting Bolivian president had met with Cuban First Vice President Raúl Castro who was accompanied by other high-ranking officials such as Vice-President Carlos Lage, Foreign Minister Felipe Pérez Roque, and Cuba's ambassador to Bolivia, Rafael Daussá.
