Venezuela Condemns US Double Standard
"Regretfully, terrorism won't be defeated if US government continues to act in a selective way and implementing double-standard policies," expressed Venezuelan ambassador Francisco Javier Arias.
During a debate on the issue at Security Council, Bolivarian Republic Mission Head indicated the position of Washington is manifested in their negative to extradite terrorist Luis Posada Carriles to Venezuela.
Arias reiterated extradition request presented by Venezuelan government to US is in force.
Posada Carriles, an US secret service ex agent, participated in a bombing of a Cuban passenger airplane in which 73 people died, as well as in the torture and murdering of social leaders in Venezuela.
Posada also participated in terrorist actions against first Sandinista government in Nicaragua and his participation in a sabotage of tourist facilities in Havana, in which an Italian tourist died in 1997.
"It is difficult to explain how cities are bombed to eradicate terrorists, meantime a terrorist is granted protection within US territory," ambassador declared.
Venezuelan diplomat affirmed US government has had several legal reasons to impose Posada Carriles a judicial process under the charges of terrorism.
"However, what US authorities have made is to release him, giving a message of trust to terrorists that act in compliance with the imperial government," he declared.
