still driving fossil fueled vehicles for the Zapatistas...
I spent today driving to one community where there was still a land dispute going on, then taking an old peasant to the hospital, then driving a few hours to another community where OPPDIC (a government back Chiapas para military group) had two days ago attacked in three seperate areas by chopping down some of the Zapatistas Avacado and orange trees, trashing one of their school houses and shooting at the community. Spent about 10 hours driving, starting at 5am, and when I wasn't driving I was playing soccer with some kids and learning how to grind corn.
I'm tired as fuck, my feet are more tired from driving than they ever were from biking. more irony I guess. tomorrow is my last day here at Morelia. Gotta drive more tomorrow at 7am, but I also wanted to listen to all my friends music on myspace and blog.
Oh yeah, I also gave the Zapatistas the money I had for them. I only ended up being able to give them 3000 pesos cause it took me way more money to get down here than I thought it would, (I had to beg and borrow just to get here). And I didn't know until recently that every time I take money out of my account from mexico my bank takes about $20. The Zaps were really grateful even for such a small amount of money. And hopefully they'll be able to raise more from the big stack of copies of my art I gave to them as well.
As It is, I think I MIGHT have enough for a bus ticket home, but no more for food (don't ask). luckily I arranged a ride from San Diego to SF with a friend that's moving. I should ride my bike from SF to Davis sometime around April 22nd or so. But I'm also really sad to be returning to my fucking fascist country.
Oh well.
Can't wait to see everyone. And can't wait to quit missing all the fucking cool music events at Delta I keep reading about. I'm fucking done with cumbia music.
