Venezuela and Argentina for integration, U.S. on the prowl
BUENOS AIRES
March 9
While Argentina and Venezuela are paving the way toward integration, that inexorable decree of the peoples’ future, the United States is prowling around Latin America like a herald of war.
This Friday, President Hugo Chávez begins a brief visit to Argentina to move ahead on agreements in the energy sector, discuss agricultural matters and draft plans for a Bank of the South.
The objective of that multilateral funding agency is to neutralize the domination of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.
During his February 21 visit to Venezuela, Kirchner and Chávez signed 17 cooperation agreements in the food, housing, transport and financial sectors.
The Argentine president also formalized Venezuelan Development Bank funding to rescue the Argentine dairy cooperative SanCor.
According to analysts, these agreements are in the framework of the internal dynamic of regional integration and, in addition, Caracas’ entry into MERCOSUR.
