"La Otra" activist brutally attacked in Chiapas
From Mexico's Centro de Medios Libres, Jan. 15:
Adherent to the Other Campaign seriously injured. Solidarity required.
After the Meeting of the Zapatista Peoples with the Peoples of the World was over, Ricardo, an adherent to the Other Campaign in Mexico City was brutally clubbed by several men on January 6 in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, where he had stayed on to participate iin follow-up activities. The attack was apparently a repressive action.
The beating resulted in serious injuries that placed him in danger of the amputation of an arm and/or a leg. He has had two operations and is in urgent need of two more, for which both financial and blood donations are necessary.
Persons wishing to show their solidarity are asked to make donations at Calle Antonio Solis No. 73-2, Colonia Obrera, just a few blocks west of Metro Chabacano [in Mexico City].
Financial contributions can be deposited in this account: Inbursa 40124412465 in the name of Ramona Cardoso Beltra'n.
Further information is available at the information table of the Other Campaign beside the kiosk Plaza Hidalgo in the center of Coyoacan on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. A fundraising bazaar is planned for Sunday, January 21 at the kiosk.
