Brazil, Argentina: Local Currencies To Be Used
Brazil and Argentina will use local currencies instead of the U.S. dollar for future bilateral trade transactions, according to a Dec. 15 statement from Brazil's central bank. There is no precise date set for the implementation of the new trading system, but it is expected to begin in about six months. The move will reduce transaction costs between the two countries and is expected to increase trade between small companies.
