SouthAm Summits for Energy, People

SouthAm Summits for Energy, People

LaPaz
Bolivian President Evo Morales confirmed attendance of at least 10 heads of states to the second South American Summit of Nations (CSN), Prime Minister Juan Ramon Quintana said Tuesday.

According to Quintana, at the 16th Ibero American Summit in Montevideo, the dignitary received commitments from all his regional counterparts except Colombian President Alvaro Uribe to participate at the Cochabamba meeting during December 8-9.

The event includes creation of a regional committee to ensure the rational use of energy resources and move toward real integration in that sector.

That group of experts must also guarantee the development of the necessary infrastructure for the resources of producing countries to expand regionwide.

Morales also invited the presidents to attend the Social Summit for the Integration of the Peoples, which will be held collaterally to that of the CSN leaders.

Minister Quintana added that once the regional summit closes, Morales and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez are slated to open the building of the Carrasco-Cochabamba gas pipeline.

The new duct, the largest in Bolivia, would transfer 130 million cubic meters and supply the San Cristobal mining project and the national industrial sector.
