Oaxaca, Mexico Finally at Table
Carlos Abascal, Mexican secretary of Government, confirmed Thursday they will hold an alternative negotiation table with representatives of the social movement and teachers of Oaxaca State to seek a way out of the ongoing conflict.
Teachers and members of the Assembly of the People of Oaxaca (APPO) accepted the negotiation but without giving up their main demand, the removal of Governor Ulises Ruiz.
Those who have been involved in construction of the pact for the governability, peace and development of Oaxaca will attend the talks.
Meanwhile, PRD -- Democratic Revolution Party -- insisted that the Senate make the definitive solution to that conflict and urged the government of President Fox to rule out the use of force.
