Cuban President Extols Energy Saving

President Fidel Castro noted that energy saving is more important than the quest for new energy sources now waning world wide.

At the ceremony to present spear-head technology for the rehab of national power lines he recalled that as reserves drain oil prices rocket.

Among electricity saving actions he recalled the distribution of electricity-saving appliances the installation of generators and power lines rehab.

President Fidel Castro said domestic consumption was severed by two million kW that also spares 600,000 tones of oil and annual expenses of 60 million dollars.

The feat helped reduce the annoying power cuts, the national industry is fully operational, strategic places installed power plants and eliminated kerosene as home-cooking fuel.
