Russia Defends Arms Sales to Venez

Mexico City
Apr 11
Russian Foreign Affairs Deputy Minister Serguie Sisliak stated the sale of weapons to Venezuela is a sovereign decision between the two nations, and denied their deal would be suspended.

These weapons are not for destabilization, asserted Sisliak, who travelled to Mexico to officially invite Mexican President Vicente Fox to the next Summit of the Group of Eight in San Petersburg.

Sisliak said the bilateral deal abides by the current international laws in the field, so "they will live up to their decisions."

On the Group of Eight Summit on July 18 and 19, the Russian Foreign deputy minister asserted oil price and energy security will be on the table.
