Committee to deliver list of 60 pre-candidates to the CNE
The National Assembly Electoral Nomination Committee (CPE) Monday is expected to forward to the Venezuelan Congress a list of the 60 candidates who may occupy a position in the 15-member new board of directors of the National Electoral Council (CNE.)
The vice-president of the Electoral Nomination Committee, Erik RodrÃguez, explained that the list includes 38 people against whom objections were raised but whom the CPE still considered eligible. The plenary session of parliament will now have to assess these candidacies and determine whether such objections actually undermine their eligibility.
The National Assembly has 10 days to select the new board of directors of CNE as of April 17th. By next April 29th at most, the names of the new five incumbent directors and their 10 substitutes will be disclosed.
