Petrobras in talks with Bolivian co despite nationalisation plan - source

SAO PAULO
Petroleo Brasiliero SA (Petrobras) is still in talks with Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB), even though Bolivian president Evo Morales plans to nationalise the country's natural gas resources, according to a source close to Petrobras.

Petrobras has proposed to cooperate with YPFB in refining, oil exploration and production, biofuel and natural gas, among other areas.

Petrobras declined to comment directly on Morales' remarks. He aims to nationalise Bolivia's natural resources by July 12.

A working group has been set up by Petrobras and YPFB to try to find common ground. Petrobras controls 46 pct of Bolivia's gas reserves, 75 pct of gas exports to Brazil and 95 pct of refinery capacity. Bolivia supplies 50 pct of Brazilian gas needs.
