Bolivia-US Relations Tense

La Paz
Relations between Bolivia and the US are taught before a high level bilateral meeting and with unsolved political problems between both countries.

Bolivian President Evo Morales said Wednesday evening that he will meet US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice this weekend and called for Washington to end aggressions and provocations against his government.

The meeting with Rice will be held at the inauguration activities in Chile and Morales said that only economic topics will be discussed.

Among the topics for discussion, Morales mentioned the maintenance of the US tariff preferences for the Bolivian manufactured goods and the preservation of the Andean market for Bolivian soy, which is threatened by the free trade agreements signed by some Latin American nations with Washington.

Meanwhile, Morales asked US ambassador to Bolivia David Greenlee for sincerity, transparency, and responsibility in his country's relations with Bolivia.
