Volunteers and Donations Needed for the City of Houma, LA

From NJ Star Ledger

The Bernards Township Chamber of Commerce is collecting truckloads of canned food, baby supplies, soap and other necessities to ship to a Louisiana town filled with hurricane refugees.

The chamber has set up more than 60 business and church locations in Hunterdon, Somerset and Morris counties where donors can drop off items. They will be trucked to the Houma-Terrebonne Chamber of Commerce in Houma, La.

The group is looking for baby diapers, wipes, bottled water, nonperishable food, can openers, paper plates, paper cups, plaster utensils, paper towels and toilet paper. They also need soap, toothpaste, bandages, ointments, bug repellent, pet food and pet supplies.

To find or set up a donation site, contact the chamber at (908) 766-6755.
