02/24/05 AccessNorthGa: Marine wounded with Oakwood leatherneck back home. Lance Corporal David Payton had been recovering in the same Texas hospital where Matt Turner of Oakwood is hospitalized. Payton still has not completely recovered from his injuries. Among other things, he says he still can't see well.

02/24/05 AP: Dazey soldier recovering after injury in Iraq.
Billy Quick was on patrol when he was hit in the face last November. He said his head was turned away, but he still lost the vision in his right eye.

02/24/05 AP: Army medic gets Purple Heart for shrapnel wounds in Iraq. A
rmy medic Sgt. Sean Luke...was wounded in both legs by shrapnel from a mortar last October while deployed in Iraq. He was traveling with two other medics on a mission outside the city of Ramadi when the tank they were riding in was hit by a mortar.

02/24/05 11alive: Injured Ga. Soldier Returns Home.
Lance Cpl. David Payton, of Powder Springs, sustained second- and third-degree burns in an enemy bomb attack on January 30. The 21-year-old also suffered chemical burns to his lungs and esophagus.

02/24/05 Messengernews: Fort Dodge wounded in Iraq.
Lance Cpl. Lucas Devine, 22, underwent two outpatient surgeries to remove shrapnel and returned to duty in Iraq, according to his father, Mike Devine, of Fort Dodge.

02/24/05 kdbc: El Paso Soldier ambushed and seriously injured.
Twenty-two-year-old Luis Aranda, a Franklin High School graduate and sergeant in the Marine Corps, is in serious but stable condition after he was ambushed on Tuesday.

02/23/05 Startribune: Two other Minnesotans injured in Iraq.
The injured soldiers were not identified; one quickly returned to duty, while the other was taken to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. He was reported to be in stable condition.

02/23/05 The Modesto Bee: Soldier headed to valley to heal.
The Iraqi sniper's bullet that didn't kill Spc. Kenneth Michael did take out a good chunk of his gut. His stomach remains open, covered by dressings. One of 1,004 battle casualties from Iraq to be treated at Walter Reed, should be released this week.
